Spirit Bear: The Simon Jackson Story on CTV Sunday June 4th at 9pm

Toronto, ON (April 26th, 2006) CTV and Screen Door is proud to announce the official Canadian Television Premier of Spirit Bear: The Simon Jackson Story.

From the Producers of Tagged, Shattered City, and Prom Queen; Spirit Bear is the story of Simon Jackson, an awkward 15-year-old who lives on a planet light years away from the in crowd until a life changing moment. After a close call in the British Columbia wilderness, Simon is rescued by a rare white Kermode Bear. When he learns these magnificent creatures are endangered, Simon turns from shy, stuttering daydreamer to political activist. Mustering his courage, he takes on the powerful forest industry and the provincial government, eventually rallying everyone from Prince William to the Backstreet Boys.

The acclaim of this wonderful film has been widely recognized by festivals world wide including the London Children’s Film Festival, Chicago International Children’s Film Festival and the upcoming Australian Little Big Shots Film Festival.  Spirit Bear has also been blessed with not one, but two Audience Choice Awards at Sprockets (Toronto) and the Mill Valley Film Festival (California) and has also been nominated for Best Family & Youth Program in this year’s BANFF WORLD TELEVISION AWARDS!

Based on a true story, this film was produced by Heather Haldane, directed by Stefan Scaini (Degrassi: The Next Generation), starring Mark Rendall (Childstar, ReGenesis), Graham Greene (Transamerica, Shattered City) and written by Kent Staines (Prom Queen: The Marc Hall Story).
